    Instructions

Let’s gather all our ingredients to make these delicious frozen yogurt treats. Follow the step-by-step directions below to get started.

A white plate holds three strawberry slices, a strawberry top, and a small knife with a wooden handle.

Hull strawberries then cut each piece into 4 slices. Reserve 12 blueberries and 8 slices of strawberries as topping.

A white bowl containing a dollop of yogurt and a small amount of powdered sugar on a light-colored surface.

In a large shallow bowl, combine chilled yogurt and confectioners’ sugar.

A large white bowl with yogurt and a spoon beside a wooden bowl holding a small silicone cup filled with yogurt on a light-colored surface.

Transfer the yogurt mixture evenly into 4 silicone molds, leaving ⅓ space on top.

A wooden bowl contains a yogurt cup topped with blueberries and a strawberry slice. Nearby, a ceramic bowl with a small amount of yogurt and a spoon. The scene is set on a white surface.

Push remaining blueberries and slices of strawberries into the yogurt mixture. Top each yogurt mixture with 3 blueberries and 2 slices of strawberries.

A wooden bowl containing a small cup with yogurt, strawberries, and blueberries, with a wooden tray holding three similar cups in the background.

Gently transfer filled silicone molds into an airtight container. Freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight.

Two white muffin liners filled with frozen yogurt topped with strawberries and blueberries on a white plate.

Remove frozen yogurt from the silicone molds. Transfer to a serving plate and top with coconut chips, if using.

Hint: When pushing the berries into the yogurt, try to space them out so they don't clump together. There should also be remaining space at the top of the silicone mold as the mixture will expand when it freezes.

    Variations

    • Change up the yogurt. Greek yogurt freezes well and tends to keep a creamy texture after freezing but you can use your favorite brand or type of yogurt. If you are wanting to change the flavor profile up, use strawberry or vanilla flavor.
    • Use different berries or fruit. Instead of blueberries and strawberries, use blackberries, cherries, or raspberries. You can even use other sliced fruit such as kiwis, and mangos if you want a more tropical taste.
    • Use a different sweetener. In place of confectioner’s sugar, use a natural sweetener such as honey or maple syrup. You can also use stevia or Swerve if you want a low-carb sugar alternative.
    • Add a base. Place either crushed up granola or graham crackers at the bottom of the silicone molds to make a base for the yogurt and fruit. This will add an extra crunch to the cups.
    • Add a topping. Sliced almonds, chocolate chips, festive sprinkles, a dollop of whipped cream or drizzled honey can be added to the top to create another layer of delicious fun.
    • Make them dairy free. Swap out the Greek yogurt for your favorite dairy free yogurt. Coconut or almond based yogurts can be used in this recipe.

    Tips

Top tip: Fresh, never-opened Greek yogurt along with fresh berries are best to use. You can use frozen berries as an alternative, but they may contain additional water so make sure to pat dry those down.

    • Properly wash and dry berries. This will help get off any residue that might be on them along with soaking up any excess moisture.
    • If you prefer a sweeter version, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of confectioner’s sugar. If you prefer less sweet, omit the confectioner’s sugar.
    • If you want to turn them into popsicles, add the sticks before the yogurt completely freezes and you’ll have fun berry yogurt popsicles.
    • Let freeze for minimum 2 hours but they can also stay in the freezer for 24 hours, if you are making in advance for an event.
    • Coconut chips are optional, but they add another texture to the creamy frozen yogurt and fruity berries.

    Storage

To store these frozen yogurt cups, place in a freezer safe airtight container or bag for up to 3 months. Let sit out a few minutes to soften before serving.

    FAQs

Can I make this frozen yogurt recipe in advance?

Yes, they can be made in advance and left in the freezer until ready to consume.

How do I prevent the yogurt from becoming too hard to consume?

The freezer will harden the yogurt. If the yogurt seems too hard when you are ready to serve, let sit out for a few minutes on the countertop to soften up.

Are these patriotic frozen yogurt cups healthy?

Yes, the Greek yogurt is a great source of protein and the berries contain wonderful antioxidants that support the body.

Can these frozen yogurt cups be an on-the-go snack?

Unfortunately, they can melt within 15-20 minutes, so I don’t advise taking them as an on-the-go snack. If you are taking them to a gathering to be enjoyed as a dessert, keep them frozen with ice packs until you reach your destination.

What types of molds are the best for this frozen yogurt recipe?

Individual silicone molds are the best type to use as they hold up well in the freezer.
