Air frying fruit is one of the easiest and fastest ways to enjoy some of your favorite fruits. Pineapple is no exception. The edges of the pineapple are slightly darkened with a grilled texture which allows the juices to burst out of the center offering a mouthwatering taste.
Adding butter, cinnamon, and sugar to the fruit provides an extra layer of deliciousness. This flavorful air fryer grilled pineapple recipe is the ideal method to prevent the burning sensation in your mouth when you eat them raw.
In this air fryer recipe, we are using the Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven. Please remember that not all air fryers cook the same way, and it is best to keep watch during your initial test of this recipe.

- Simple Ingredients- All you need for this recipe is 4 simple ingredients that you probably already have at home or can very easily get at the grocery store. By using canned pineapple, you can enjoy making these air fryer pineapples year-round.
Ingredients
I like to use canned pineapple rings in this recipe, but you can use chunks. You can also cut a fresh pineapple into evenly sized rings.
Here are the ingredients needed to make this recipe:
- Pineapple- Canned pineapple is perfect because it can be easily accessible year-round. You can also use fresh as long as you cut the pineapple into even slices so the pieces cook equally through.
- Butter- We used unsalted butter for this recipe that was softened. Softened butter brushes the best on the pineapple.
- Light brown sugar- Adds sweetness and helps with caramelizing the pineapple.
- Ground cinnamon- A sprinkle adds more sweetness and really brings out the flavors.

Instructions
Gather the ingredients and preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Then follow these easy steps to make these delicious caramelized air fryer pineapples. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
Slice the pineapple rings into four equally and transfer to a large plate.
Pat dry pineapple pieces.
Brush one side of pineapples with butter.
Mix brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over pineapples.
Transfer pineapples with the cinnamon-sugar mixture side down in an air fryer basket or tray in a single layer.
Brush the remaining sides of pineapples with butter.
Sprinkle on the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Air fry pineapples for 6 minutes or until sugar has caramelized.
Hint: Apply a thin and even coating of brown sugar and cinnamon on the pineapple chunks. This prevents excessive sweetness and reduces the risk of burning.
Variations
Air Fryer pineapples are a fun and delicious treat that can be made quick and easily. They also can be customized to your preference. Here are a few suggestions of ways you can enjoy them even more.
- Change up the sugar. In place of light brown sugar, more natural sugars such as honey or maple syrup can be used.
- Fresh pineapple. During peak season, the abundance of fresh pineapple would be ideal. Fresh pineapple tends to be sweeter particularly at the base so you may need to adjust the sugar as needed.
- Spice it up. Add a dash of cayenne pepper or chili powder if you are looking to add a bit more spice to counter the sweetness.
- Make it more decadent. Add a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce to the pineapples to truly add a rich taste.
- Add bacon. Bacon makes everything taste great so why not wrap pineapple in bacon. The salty, smoky flavor of bacon pairs great with the sweetness in the pineapple. You must try this Bacon wrapped pineapple in air fryer recipe.
Tips
Top tip: Do not overlap pineapple in the air fryer. You want them to cook evenly and the coating to stay on the pineapple. Place individually on the baking tray.
- Remove excess moisture before cooking. Pat dry the pineapple rings so any excess water is not dripping on the baking tray. You will also want to do this before applying the butter, cinnamon and sugar mixture so it sticks to the pineapple well.
- Use canned pineapple. Canned pineapple is not only convenient all year round but the slices are already pre-cut for you making it even easier and saving time.
- Coat the whole pineapple ring. Make sure to evenly coat the whole pineapple ring with the butter, cinnamon and sugar mixture to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
- Preheat air fryer, using the grill setting to 400°F (205°C). Be sure to use the grill setting on your air fryer. Each individual air fryer is different so make sure to read the instructions on the best temperature for your air fryers grill setting.
- Spray the baking tray before use. This will make sure the pineapple doesn’t stick to the tray and can be easily removed when finished baking.

Serve them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a fantastic treat. They can also be dipped in this dairy-free vegan whipped cream.
Pineapple is a great side dish with burgers, grilled meats, or shrimp skewers. You also can enjoy it with a bowl of yogurt or this single serve baked oatmeal for one.
Storage
The best way to store them is in an airtight container or zip-top bag in the refrigerator. This will keep the pineapple fresh and prevent them from drying out. They should last up to 4 days.
