I've always been a big fan of frozen treats, but I don't always want something heavy or overly sweet. That's why I created this frozen yogurt recipe. It's creamy, refreshing, and has just the right amount of natural sweetness from the berries.
I've made this for everything from casual nights to weekend get-togethers with a friend. It's always a hit because it's light, flavorful, and pairs well with other treats like gluten-free oatmeal cookies or fresh fruit. I also like that I can pull it together anytime and have something special ready for the next day.
Ingredients

- Blueberries - Adds natural sweetness, vibrant color, and fresh berry flavor.
- Monkfruit with allulose or equivalent sweetener - Provides sweetness without adding extra sugar or calories.
- Lemon juice - Brightens the flavor and enhances the natural taste of the blueberries.
- Unsweetened Greek yogurt - Creates a creamy base with a rich texture and provides protein for a more balanced treat.

Instructions
I make this frozen treat using a Ninja CREAMi, but you should be able to use a regular ice cream maker for churning.

Add blueberries, sweetener, and lemon juice to small blender. Blend until strawberries are puréed. Allow mixture to sit for 10 minutes.

Add yogurt to the blender.

Blend until ingredients are well combined.

Pour yogurt mixture in CREAMi pint container.

Freeze for at least 24 hours.

Process in the Ninja CREAMi on the Lite ice cream setting.

If the mixture is not smooth and creamy, you can do a re-spin. If the mixture is too soft, freeze for a couple of hours before scooping into a bowl to enjoy.
Hint: Use very ripe blueberries or briefly cook them down to release their juices before mixing. This gives the yogurt a richer flavor and better color.
Variations
Here are some easy ways to customize the blueberry frozen yogurt recipe:
- Add other fruits - Blend the blueberries with blackberries, strawberries, or peaches for a mixed-fruit version.
- Change the sweetener - Use honey, maple syrup, or agave instead of monkfruit sweetener.
- Add mix-ins after spinning - Stir in mini white chocolate chips, chopped almonds, granola clusters, or crushed graham crackers.
- Top it off - Sprinkle with air fryer granola, chopped nuts, or coconut flakes for added texture.
- Blend for smoothness - Puree the blueberries with the yogurt for a creamier, uniform texture.

Tips
Top tip: Taste and adjust sweetness. Blueberry tartness can vary, so add sweetener gradually.
- Start with a smooth base - Blend your blueberries and yogurt together until completely smooth before freezing. Any chunks of fruit can create icy bits.
- Freeze the pint completely - The base needs at least 24 hours in the freezer so it's solid all the way through. A partially frozen base won't spin well.
- Use the right setting - For yogurt-based recipes, the "Lite Ice Cream" or "Sorbet" setting usually gives the best texture. You can always re-spin if needed.
- Don't skip the re-spin - If the first spin looks crumbly or powdery, use the "Re-Spin" button. It's the secret to getting a silky texture.
- Add mix-ins last - If you want nuts, chocolate chips, or fruit chunks, add them after the first spin and run the "Mix-In" cycle.
- Make popsicles - Pour the mixture into popsicle molds instead of churning.
Serving suggestions
A scoop of blueberry frozen yogurt is delicious on its own with a dollop of whipped coconut cream, but you can make it feel extra special with simple toppings. Fresh berries, like blueberries, raspberries, or sliced strawberries, add a juicy burst of flavor and a pretty pop of color. A drizzle of honey or maple syrup can also balance the tanginess of the yogurt while enhancing the natural sweetness of the blueberries.
If you're serving it as part of a dessert spread, think beyond the bowl. Use the frozen yogurt as a topping for a warm Belgian waffle, coconut flour pancakes, or slices of mini pound cake for a hot-and-cold contrast. It also works beautifully layered in parfait glasses with fruit and granola for a lighter, make-ahead dessert option that looks impressive.

Storage
Store frozen blueberry yogurt in an airtight container to keep it fresh and prevent freezer burn. Make sure to press a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface before sealing to minimize ice crystals. When ready to eat, let it thaw in the fridge for a few minutes to soften slightly for the best texture.
FAQs
No. Frozen blueberries work well, too. Just thaw and drain them to avoid extra liquid in the yogurt.
It's best eaten within 1 to 2 months for freshness and flavor. Store it in an airtight container to keep it fresh longer.
Absolutely. You can substitute Greek yogurt with a plant-based yogurt like coconut or almond yogurt for a dairy-free version.
