Air fryer brownie bites are quite possibly my newest favorite air fryer obsession. These bite size dessert treats always fulfil my chocolate cravings and satisfy my sweet tooth. They are right up there with my Air Fryer S'mores and Air Fryer S'mores Dip.

If you are looking for an easy, chocolatey dessert recipe that is fun to make then these brownies in the air fryer are just for you. The crispy edges and chewy chocolate center make these brownies to die for. My whole family loves making them and with using the air fryer it is so convenient. Cooking desserts in the air fryer is so simple, saves time and there is minimal clean up. I must also mention these brownies intensify in chocolate flavor if you leave them chill in the refrigerator overnight. I encourage you to give them a try and I bet they will become your newest favorite dessert.

    Reasons to Love

    • Easy to Make. The air fryer makes baking fun. No need for a hot oven to heat up your house. These air fryer brownie bites come together in just a few minutes and heat up in no time with minimal clean up thanks to the air fryer.
    • Customizable. I love that these air fryer brownies are so versatile. You can add different mix ins to the batter to totally make them your own. I enjoy adding extra chocolate chips to mine to make them even gooier. See variations section below for ideas.
    • Delicious Taste + Perfect Texture. Due to the air fryer circulating the hot air, this creates that crispy outer edge of the brownies while keeping the center gooey and soft with loads of chocolate flavor in every bite.

    Ingredients

Ingredients for baking arranged on a table: flour, eggs, butter, vanilla extract, sugar, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips.
    • All purpose flour- This will be the base for the brownies.
    • Cocoa powder- I'm using high quality unsweetened cocoa powder for this recipe. This gives the brownies that fudgy-chocolatey flavor.
    • Brown sugar- Light brown sugar is used but if you wanted to use dark brown sugar just know it will give the brownies a richer molasses flavor.
    • Chocolate chips- I enjoy using semi-sweet chocolate chips in my brownies but you can surely use dark or milk chocolate chips.
    • Egg- This binds and holds everything together.
    • Butter- Unsalted is used in this recipe so you can adjust to your preference.
    • Vanilla extract- Enhances and brings out the flavors in the dessert.
    • Salt- Helps in balancing out the sweetness.

    Instructions

Let's get our air fryer pre-heated and ingredients out to make these delicious air fryer brownie bites.

A small white ramekin filled with melted butter placed on a black ridged tray.

Transfer unsalted butter in a ramekin and place on the Air Fryer tray in the middle cooking chamber, near the rotisserie catch. Melt butter while pre-heating the Air Fryer.

A white bowl containing cocoa powder with a gold spoon, set against a white background.

In a separate large shallow bowl, mix flour and cocoa powder. Set aside.

A bowl of melted butter topped with brown sugar.

Gently remove melted butter from the Air Fryer and pour over brown sugar.

A bowl of butter sugar mixture with a spoon.

Stir continuously for 5 minutes. Pour vanilla extract. Mix well.

A bowl containing a mixture of melted butter and cocoa powder with a metal spoon on a white background.

    Stir in cocoa mixture.

A bowl of chocolate batter with chocolate chips and a mixing spoon, on a white surface.

Add in 2 tablespoons chocolate chips. Mix well.

A person holds a white egg above a bowl of dark brown batter, indicating they are about to add it to the mix.

In a small bowl, beat egg. Then pour over cocoa mixture.

A bowl of thick, dark chocolate batter with a spoon, partially mixed with visible streaks of unmixed batter.

Blend well but do not over-mix the brownie mixture.

Four unbaked brownie bites on top, in colorful baking cups on a dark baking tray.

Place 4 silicone molds onto the Air Fryer tray. Fill each mold with the brownie mixture. Top with the remaining chocolate chips.

Place into preheated air fryer. Test doneness after 8 minutes. Insert a toothpick at the middle of the brownie bites. If it comes out clean, remove the Air Fryer tray. If the toothpick is wet, continue Air Frying for another 1 or 2 minutes.

Allow the brownie bites to cool untouched for at least 15 minutes to prevent crumbling. Gently remove brownie bites from the silicone mold. Avoid touching the chocolate chips on top. Transfer to a serving plate.

Hint: Lightly grease the cups with cooking spray before filling them with the brownie batter. This helps prevent the brownies from sticking to the cups and makes them easier to remove once they're cooked.

    Variations

    • Add mix-ins. You can doctor up these air fryer brownie bites with a handful of chopped nuts, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, M & M's and even colorful sprinkles.
    • Add a topping. A caramel or chocolate sauce adds a richer taste to the brownies. You can also top with this dairy free whipped cream or cream cheese frosting to make them extra sweet.
    • Switch up the sugar. Instead of brown sugar, use white sugar or a sugar substitute to change up the flavor. Liquid sweeteners don't work well for this recipe.
    • Make them gluten free. Needing a gluten free option? No worries, just swap out the all-purpose flour for a gluten free 1 for 1 flour.

If you have some leftover peanut butter cookies, you can crumble break them into small pieces and add as a topping with or without the chocolate chips.

    Tips

Top tip: Keep an eye on them while air frying. An air fryer tends to cook foods faster than traditional baking methods.

    • Pre-heat the air fryer. This allows the brownie bites to have consistency in heat which allows them to bake evenly. This air fryer recipes uses an Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven. Not all air fryers cook the same way so keep watch during your cooking.
    • While pre-heating the air fryer, simultaneously melt butter to save on energy. If the butter is not completely melted, add 1 or 2 more minutes. Melt butter using a microwave can be another option.
    • Use a high-quality cocoa powder. This will ensure for a greater and richer chocolate flavor to the brownies.
    • Don't overmix batter. Mix ingredients until they are all incorporated together. If you overmix, the brownies could fail to rise and come out dry.
    • Manually adjust timer. The timer should be set to 10 minutes once the silicone mold filled with the brownie mixture is placed inside the cooking chamber.
    • Remove the Air Fryer tray once the sides of the brownie bites are set. The middle part will set once the brownie bites are cooled.
    • Let the brownies cool. Don't try eating them right out of the air fryer. By letting them cool, you give them time the middle part time to set and heat up without drying out.
    • These brownie bites are rich and chocolatey without being overly sweet. If you prefer on the sweeter side, add 1 or 2 tablespoons more of brown sugar.
    • Chocolate taste intensifies after a day. Place in an airtight container and chill in the refrigerator overnight.

    Serving suggestions

Air fryer brownie bites go perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They are also great with a glass of ice-cold milk, iced tea, or coffee.

These brownie bites make an amazing dessert to enjoy after you have had my Frito Chili Pie or Sloppy Joe Casserole. You may even want to add a dollop of dairy-free whipped cream.

    Storage

You can store your brownie bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Ensure the container is sealed properly to keep the brownies fresh and prevent them from becoming stale.

You can also freeze them by wrapping each one individually in plastic wrap. Then place in a freezer friendly container or bag for up to 3 months.

These brownie bites are dangerous. I just got an air fryer and this is my first dessert I made with it. They are tasty, and they did come out of the cup easily.

Yes. A muffin tin will work as long as it fits in your air fryer.
