Whether hosting Thanksgiving dinner or attending a Halloween party, these festive deviled eggs will surely be a hit. They're easy to make ahead of time, allowing you to spend more precious moments with loved ones instead of slaving away in the kitchen.

So why not add some flair to your holiday spread? Whip up a batch of these pumpkin deviled eggs and watch as they disappear within minutes. They can be served with other snack bites like lumpia and air fryer pasta chips too.

    Reasons to Love

    • A unique seasonal touch to your holiday spread. Incorporating a pumpkin shape into the filling creates an autumnal twist that adds to a festive atmosphere.
    • Incredibly easy to make. Boil some eggs, scoop out the yolks, mix them with mayo, mustard, lemon juice, paprika, and salt. Then, pipe the mixture back into the egg whites in the shape of a pumpkin. Top each off with a cut mini sweet pickle to look like a stem.
    • They taste great. It's not just about how they look. Each bite is creamy, rich, and irresistible.

    Ingredients

All you need for this Thanksgiving deviled eggs recipe are some fresh eggs and basic seasonings. You'll also need a jar of whole sweet baby pickles to add an easy pumpkin stem.

    Instructions

To start, you'll need to boil the eggs hard. Place them in a pot with water covering them completely. Then boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and carefully drain the hot water.

Add ice and water to the hard boiled eggs to cool them down quickly. Then remove the shell from each one.

Fill the egg whites with the yolk mixture by piping them into pumpkin shapes. Cut the tips of the ends off of the gherkins, and place onto the eggs to form the stems of the "pumpkins".

Hint: Use an open star tip on your piping bag to form the filling into a pumpkin shape inside the whites.

You can also hard cook eggs perfectly in an Instant Pot.

    Variations

When it comes to customizing the recipe, the options are truly endless.

    • Add meat - For an extra savory twist, stir in small pieces of bacon or crispy pancetta into the filling. The combination of creamy filling and crispy bacon creates a delightful contrast in texture and taste.
    • Stir in pumpkin - Mix canned pumpkin puree with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Then stir it into the egg yolk mixture to add real pumpkin flavor.
    • Make it spicy - Add a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce if you like your deviled eggs to have some kick.
    • Add sweetness - Mix in finely chopped candied pecans, sweet pickle relish, or dried cranberries into your filling.

You can even chop up a leftover jalapeño popper to stir into the filling for added flavor.

    Tips

Top tip: Transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice cold water to cool quickly and stop cooking. Once cooled, peel the eggs carefully to avoid damaging the whites.

    • Allow the boiled eggs to cool down before removing shells. Soaking them in ice water after cooking and peeling under running water should help the shells come off easier.
    • Adjust ingredient amounts as needed. Taste the mixture as you go along to ensure it has the right balance of flavors. If desired, stir in additional seasonings.
    • Make the eggs ahead of time. To save on prep time, you can cook and shell the eggs the night before.

    Serving suggestions

These eggs make the perfect Thanksgiving appetizer. Consider arranging the deviled eggs in the shape of a pumpkin on a platter and adding green leafy vegetables as stems at the top. Alternatively, you can place each egg on an individual bed of spinach leaves to create an elegant and festive look or sprinkle on fresh herbs as garnish.

Serve them with other snacks like air fryer garlic bread or baked tortilla strips with buffalo chicken dip. They are perfect for snacking before the main Thanksgiving turkey meal.
