I like making this kiwi strawberry recipe when I want something fresh that comes together quickly without a lot of effort. The combination of strawberries and kiwi works well, especially when the fruit is in season. It is light enough for lunch, a side dish, or a picnic, and it adds plenty of color to the table.
After making this summer salad a few times, I found that it tastes best when the fruit is ripe and the dressing is added just before serving to keep everything crisp. It has become one of my favorite ways to use fresh summer produce because it feels special without requiring complicated ingredients. I like to make my kiwi parfait or my strawberry Eton mess for one to use up any leftover fruit from this salad recipe.

Tips
Top tip: Use ripe but firm kiwi and strawberries so they hold their shape. Chill the fruit before assembling the salad for a crisp, refreshing texture.
- Dry the lettuce well after washing to your salad isn't watered down.
- Cut the fruit into similar-sized pieces so every bite has a good mix of flavors.
- Toss the salad with the dressing just before serving to keep the greens fresh and crisp.
Variations
This strawberry kiwi fruit salad recipe is easy to customize with a few simple ingredient swaps or extra toppings. Here are a few ideas to match what you have on hand or change up the flavors.
Substitutions
- Swap the romaine for spinach, spring mix, butter lettuce, or mixed greens.
- Replace the sunflower seeds with sliced almonds, chopped walnuts, pecans or pumpkin seeds for a different crunch.
- Use maple syrup instead of honey if you prefer.
- Try lime juice in place of lemon juice for a slightly different citrus flavor.
Variations
- Add crumbled feta or goat cheese for a creamy, salty contrast.
- Mix in blueberries or raspberries for extra color and variety.
- Top with grilled chicken for a light lunch or easy dinner.
- Add sliced avocado for a richer texture.

Storage
Store leftover kiwi strawberry salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. The greens will soften once they have been dressed, so this salad is best enjoyed shortly after it is made. If you are preparing it ahead of time, keep the dressing separate and add in just before serving.
