Various baking ingredients are arranged in white bowls on a white surface, including flour, cream cheese, peanut butter, vanilla extract, baking soda, an egg, salt, and powdered sugar.
    • Cream Cheese- Full-fat cream cheese was used in this recipe and is highly recommended. Be sure your cream cheese is softened at room temperature.
    • Egg- Binds everything together to create these wonderful muffins.
    • Biscoff Spread- Adds a sweet, unique flavor when mixed in with the cream cheese and muffin batter.
    • Confectioner’s Sugar- The sugar to use for these muffins lends to a lighter texture.
    • All-Purpose Flour- The base of these cream cheese muffins.
    • Vanilla Extract- Adds a hint of vanilla flavoring to the batter.

Scroll down to the recipe card for quantities used.

    Instructions

Let’s start by preheating the air fryer and gathering all the ingredients to make these delicious air fryer muffins.

A glass bowl with whipped cream cheese and electric mixer beaters sitting inside it, placed on a white marble countertop.

In a bowl, whisk softened cream cheese until smooth with the use of a mixer.

A glass mixing bowl with creamed butter and sugar, partially mixed, sits on a white surface. An electric hand mixer with beaters is placed in the bowl.

Gradually add confectioner’s sugar and continue whisking until well combined.

A hand holds a white bowl with thick, creamy brown peanut butter inside, against a white background.

Add Biscoff spread and continue to whisk until blended, about 5 seconds.

A mixing bowl with brownish batter and a hand mixer on a white surface.

Spoon the sides and continue whisking for another 5 seconds.

A person holds a white bowl of flour above a glass mixing bowl containing a brown mixture with a whisk attachment.

Add flour, salt, and baking powder. Whisk at low and spoon the sides in between whisking.

A hand holds a small glass bowl with a raw egg above a mixing bowl containing brown sugar and a whisk attachment.

    Add in an egg.

A glass bowl containing a mixture of brown batter and yellow liquid, with a metal hand mixer partially submerged in the contents.

    Add in vanilla.

A close-up of a glass bowl containing a creamy brown mixture being whipped with an electric mixer on a white surface.

Continue mixing but do not over mix.

Three cupcake liners filled with batter sit in a round baking tin. In the background, a glass bowl with remaining batter and a whisk are visible on a white surface.

Fill each silicone mold with the Biscoff batter, to the brim.

Three baked muffins in white paper cups are arranged in a round, dark-colored baking pan on a white wooden surface.

Air Fry for 15 to 18 minutes or until an inserted toothpick at the middle comes out clean.

Hint: Air fryer cooking times can vary, so it's best to start checking your muffins for doneness at the 10-minute mark. This will help avoid over-browning and ensure the muffin remains moist inside.

    Variations

    • Use a different spread. Biscoff tastes incredible but you could also swap it out for a number of other spreads based on your taste preference. Some others to choose from are Nutella, hazelnut, cookie butter or peanut butter.
    • Add spices to the muffins. Cinnamon, nutmeg or cardamon would mix in very well with the batter if you are wanting to spice these muffins up.
    • Try Add-Ins. Consider throwing in a handful of chopped nuts or chocolate chips into the batter.
    • Use a different extract. Lemon or almond can be used to give these muffins a different flavor profile.
    • Make dairy free. These muffins can be made dairy free by swapping out the cream cheese for your favorite dairy free cream cheese. No worries, Biscoff is naturally dairy free.
    • Add a streusel topping. Want to really jazz up these muffins? Add a streusel topping. All you will need is a little bit of white sugar, all purpose flour, cinnamon and butter combined to make this topping.

Check out my coffee cake muffins if you need some help making a streusel topping. It will add a sweet cinnamon flavor.

    Tips

Top tip: Don’t overmix the batter. This can cause an overdevelopment of gluten to form which can lend to tough muffins.

    • Use a standing mixer or handheld mixer. Either device can be used when creating this amazing batter.
    • All air fryers don’t cook the same. This Air Fryer recipe uses an Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven. It is best to watch during the first time you make this recipe. You can also use either “Air Fry” or “Bake” functions if your model has a separate “bake” setting.
    • Use a transfer pan. This will make transferring the silicone molds easier out of the air fryer along with quicker clean up.
    • Generously grease the silicone molds. This will ensure the muffins do not stick to the molds and will come out easily after cooking.
    • Use a toothpick to check if the muffins are done. This should be done at the last 2 to 3 minutes. If the toothpick comes out with some batter, you can cancel the air fryer but do not remove the muffins yet. The residual heat from the air fryer will continue to cook the muffins without overly browning the tops.
    • Let muffins cool before serving. Remove the muffins out of the silicone molds and place on a cooling rack for a few minutes before enjoying.
Three muffins in cupcake liners are in a round baking tin, with one muffin on a white plate in the foreground.

    Serving suggestions

These Biscoff cream cheese muffins pair well with a cup of coffee or glass of milk. They can even be eaten on the go if you are short on time. You can also serve with a side of sausage, fresh fruit or yogurt for a more balanced breakfast.

These muffins also make a great afternoon snack that can be enjoyed with a cool refreshing glass of iced blackberry tea. You can pair it with a handful of nuts for extra protein and an energy boost.

In addition to enjoying for breakfast or as a snack, these cream cheese muffins make a fantastic dessert after dinner. You can warm them up and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or top with whipped cream.

    Storage

Once cooled, place any leftover muffins in an airtight sealed container or bag to be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

For freezing, place any leftover muffins in a freezer safe airtight container or bag, label them with the date and place in freezer for up to 3 months.

To reheat from frozen, let thaw overnight in the refrigerator then place in air fryer for a few minutes to warm back up. This method for reheating can also apply if they are simply just refrigerated.

    FAQs

Can I use low fat or fat free cream cheese?

Yes, you can use either just know the texture and flavor might be slightly different. Full fat cream cheese lends to the best creamy texture.

How do I make sure the cream cheese is incorporated well into the filling?

Using room-temperature cream cheese will help all the ingredients come together nicely.

How do I prevent my cream cheese muffins from turning out dense?

The first thing is to make sure the batter is not overmixed. Next, make sure all ingredients are measured properly so there not too much or too little of an ingredient. Lastly, all ingredients for this recipe should be room temperature before combining.

How do I know my muffins are done?

Insert toothpick into the center of the muffin. If no batter sticks to the toothpick you know they are done. The tops will also be slightly golden brown.

What would the timing and temp have to be if I wanted to make it in a conventional oven? Either with or without the Thermofan on.
My airfryer isnt an oven type one....

I would try 350°F for about 20 minutes checking after 15 minutes.
