Small-Batch Sauces and Condiments
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably opened your fridge at some point to find an array of half-empty bottles of sauces and condiments that have been sitting there for far too long. Buying sauces in bulk or large bottles may seem like a good idea, but the reality is they often go to waste, especially when you're cooking for one or two people. That's why I’ve started making my own downsized versions that are perfect for smaller meals and help cut down on food waste.
I’ve put together a few simple recipes like a no cook pizza sauce and an easy homemade brown gravy with no drippings. Each one is perfectly portioned so you won’t have leftovers cluttering up your fridge, but they pack all the flavor you’re craving. Plus, these recipes are easy to make, with ingredients you likely already have in your pantry or fridge.
Making your own sauces and condiments also means you get full control over what goes into them, whether you're trying to avoid preservatives, reduce sugar, or just want a fresher taste. It’s a great way to experiment with new flavors, and you can easily adjust the recipes to your taste. Once you start making your own downsized condiments, you’ll find it hard to go back to store-bought.
