Ingredients

  • 10 pieces large shrimp deveined and tails intact
  • 5 pieces low-sodium bacon cut in half
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon light brown sugar optional
  • kosher salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • olive oil about 1 tablespoon for brushing

Instructions

  • Pre-heat Air Fryer at 370°F (188°C) or oven to 400°F (204°C). Set at 12 minutes for air fryer or 15 minutes for oven.
  • Pat dry shrimp with paper towel.
  • Season shrimp with salt, black pepper and garlic powder.
  • Place bacon at the center of the shrimp and tightly wrap. Each tip of shrimp should be showing. Secure with toothpicks.
  • Gently transfer bacon-wrapped shrimp onto the Air Fryer tray or a rack over sheet pan for oven. Allow some space for each shrimp. Do not overcrowd.
  • Lightly brush each end of shrimp with oil.
  • Sprinkle each bacon-wrapped shrimp with light brown sugar, if using.
  • Slowly insert Air Fryer tray into the middle cooking chamber, near the rotisserie catch or sheet pan in middle rack of oven.
  • Turn food half-way through. No need to wait for the “turn food” reminder provided by the Air Fryer. See tips or notes when turning food.
  • Wait for the timer to end before opening the oven door or once bacon-wrapped shrimp are fully cooked and golden in color, press “cancel” from the Air Fryer settings.
  • Wait for 1 to 2 minutes for bacon to crisp up further then serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

This Air Fryer recipe uses an Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven. Not all Air Fryers cook the same way. It’s best to keep watch during your initial tests after purchasing.
You’ll need several pieces of toothpicks soaked in cold water. Preferably 2 toothpicks per shrimp. Thoroughly dry toothpicks with paper towel, before using.
10 pieces of bacon-wrapped shrimp fits perfectly in the Air Fryer tray, allowing enough space for air to flow and each bacon to crisp up perfectly.
TIPS:
If you will not close the door while flipping the bacon-wrapped shrimp, the Air Fryer temperate might change. Close the door after removing the Air Fryer tray and while turning the food.
Soak toothpicks in cold water at least 15 minutes. Thoroughly dry with paper towel before using.
